Sneak Peek from the Warehouse SS14 Press Day!
Thursday, February 13, 2014
For a fashion addict like myself, I'm always super excited to check out all the upcoming collections from my favourite stores and designers, and to see what will be hitting the stores in the coming months! I was therefore extremely pleased when I received an invitation to the Warehouse Press Day Preview in Dublin to view their latest designs from the SS14 collection! The press team also very kindly forwarded me over some of the official shots taken on the day, showcasing some of the stunning designs modelled by Carrie Ann & Georgia May, styled by Aisling Farinella and photographed by Anthony Woods.
The weather might still be dull and dreary in Belfast, but at least we can inject a welcome burst of colour in über chic separates and intricate embellished pieces from Warehouse that will give any wardrobe a fresh and feminine boost!
The collection is broken down into eight distinct trends: BAMAKO, BOTANIC ACID, KASBAH, NIGHT CIRCUS, POETIC GARDEN, PRECISION, ST ETIENNE & SPOTLIGHT. Featuring high octane fluro colour bursts, pretty pastels, contrasting textures of lace, jacquard, mesh, and embroidery which all work to distinguish the trends through from Parisian chic, and sports luxe to downtown New York coolness. The glamour of the 50's is perfectly captured in the use of silk and satin, think lingerie dresses and relaxed play suits while ethnic and digital fluro prints are perfect for those of us who want to get noticed! Denim again remains strong, but is updated through the double denim look or casual dungarees, creating a casual summer feel.
Georgia May is pictured at the Warehouse SS14 launch wearing Denim dungarees €55, Blue check shirt €60, Burgundy satchel €45, Black fedora, €30 and Navy beaded necklace €13 from the new collection.

Of course my stand out pieces were the effortlessly chic and feminine looks, think modern day Audrey Hepburn, mixed in with a little Olivia Palermo and you will get the idea! I especially loved this floral jumpsuit in hues of mink, lilac and blue which could be styled in a variety of ways, perfectly capturing the fun and flirty mood of this season's look!
Georgia May is pictured wearing Floral jumpsuit €78, Sunglasses €21, Bag €34 and Belt €26 from the new collection.

But my favourite pieces were in the form of chic separates which when worn together create a polished but yet relaxed feel. Think fluid fabrics cut in loose styles, or tailored pencil skirts giving a feminine feel, with contrasting textures of lace and leather to create a younger feel to ladylike chic!
Georgia May is pictured wearing Cream crop tee €50, Pleated culottes €60, Herringbone coat €101, Silver necklace, €13 and Black clutch €36 from the new collection.

Carrie Anne is pictured wearing Embellished shoulder lace top ‚€50, Lace pencil skirt ‚€72, Navy raw edge biker jacket ‚€165, Green clutch, €39 and White ring €8 from the new collection.

Mixing of sorbet pastels with vibrant shots of colour work perfectly to create a striking but yet youthful and chic emsemble! This stunning mix of blues and mints was my favourite look from the shoot!!
Carrie Anne is pictured wearing Navy coat €120, Green skirt €90, Stripy lace tee €39, Clear sunglasses €21 and green bag €36 from the new collection. Photo: Anthony Woods.
Brief summery of Warehouse SS14 Trends!
BAMAKO:
50’s glamour encounter contemporary tribal prints and plain black wide leg culottes paired with a floral graphic printed sportswear bomber for easy luxe. The co-ord set becomes the suit of the season; a palm tree jacquard cropped t-shirt meets a matching midi A-line skirt - to beworn with a flatform.
BOTANIC ACID:
High voltage fluro block colours, softened by fluid fabrics and digital floral prints. Key shapes enrich the vivid rainbow; cropped jackets, modern peg leg trousers and matching print tops and skirts.
KASBAH:
Cool Coachella on a summer night. Lounge lingerie developed for daywear; a silky playsuit, Moroccan inspired cover-ups, pretty paisley scarf prints. Long live the festival.
NIGHT CIRCUS:
An ethereal dreamland of fairytale fabrics that dance at night. Exaggerated black on nude polka dots modernise the metallic nod to the 80’s of the silver box pleat skirt and trapeze dresses. Encrusted jewels adorn chiffon cardigans while the ankle-cuffed pants provide an athletic edge.
POETIC GARDEN:
Pretty pastel lace is the ladylike look of the season. The pencil skirt is longer and slimmer with a boxy crop in sheer organza to balance the silhouette. Slip camis sit under the heavy spring jacket with soft garden florals an alternative pairing to the array of candy colours.
PRECISION:
Sharp cuts with a sportswear influence; the stretch sweatshirt and mesh underlay mini skirt set the scene for modern separates. Neoprene holds an oversize shape for the perfect Summer Coat while the scuba-feel fabric creates angles on clean white trousers. Pleats and asymmetrical hemlines sit alongside geo lace and textural whites.
ST ETIENNE:
Downtown New York crosses the continent to meet Parisian chic. Casual new denim, soft washed or embroidered chambray bridges the gap between grown-up grunge and sitting pretty. Delicate lace dresses layered under a cropped shirt or jacket can be worn with a tough ankle boot.
SPOTLIGHT:
Flamboyant fluorescents run through this season’s occasion wear. Stripes take centre stage illuminated by full skirts and expensive-feel fabrics. Pastel coloured jacquard gives a structured edge, alongside fluid maxi dresses with camisole strap details. Powder paint scarves provide the finishing touch.
I hope you enjoy looking though the shots from the new collection and massive thanks to Róisín Moloney and Katie Allen at Aurora Fashions for the invitation to the Dublin Press Day and for supplying me with all relevant imagery!
