Ever wondered how a design will evolve from a sketch to the finished garment? Well you may not realise it but that favourite jacket or dress will comprise of many different components, expertly fitted and worked together to produce that final garment!

Back in August I was extremely happy to hear that my favourite store was giving customers an unique insight into this process by re-creating their very own atelier in Selfridges, London for just one month!

Leading on from that success Karen Millen have partnered up with Brown Thomas, Dublin, to re-create their very own atelier. Offering a fascinating glimpse into the world of their design and tailoring techniques in a dedicated space on Level 1 of Brown Thomas until the 31st October which I was lucky  enough to visit at the start of the month!!!

I've always said the reason why I practically live in Karen Millen clothes is due to the fact that their design, cut and fabric is comparable to any designer brand! As someone who has been lucky enough to try on & wear high end designer brands I can honestly say that Karen Millen's pieces more than hold their own when compared to similar designer garments! The Pop Up Atelier gives customers an unique insight into the design process, allowing them to fully appreciate the level of workmanship involved in creating each garment!

There will be a range of collectible Limited Edition pieces that are solely exclusive to Brown Thomas, such as trend-led tailoring and statement outerwear. These exclusive pieces were created to encompass all the essential trend-led components of a modern wardrobe.

My personal favourite was a gorgeous black skirt suit, with unusual panelling & darts creating a super luxe feel to the ensemble! I know I could wear it to any high level business meeting, or equally dress it up for a night of cocktails!

Karen Millen is the only brand on the high street using couture-inspired techniques within their collections with every piece being designed, pattern-cut, fitted and finished in the brand’s dedicated in-house design studio and Atelier in Shoreditch London. Working in this way, with the design team involved in every stage of the development process, allows the brand to engineer an exceptional level of quality into every piece.

By appointment, clients will select their ideal pieces from a curated range of suits, coats and skirts at Brown Thomas within the Karen Millen Pop-Up Atelier. Karen Millen has designed a range of complimentary collectible pieces that will include trend-led tailoring, Karen Millen’s iconic leather jackets as well as a range of Limited Edition pieces with an even higher level of exclusivity and craftsmanship with sometimes no more than 30 of a particular style released world-wide.

The Karen Millen collections encompass all the essential trend-led components of a modern wardrobe and are designed to become cherished staples.  Karen Millen uses the most luxurious fabrics possible, the designers work closely with premium specialist mills around the world to source and select luxury fabrics to craft the collections, often working with the mills to customise and create original and unique fabrics that are exclusive to the brand.
