University of Ulster's future fashion designers pull to all the stops!
Wednesday, May 21, 2014
Back when I graduated from my Law Degree, I headed off into the world, excited for the future and thankful of the years I had spent at University honing my skills and training my mind to equip myself with the skills I needed to embark upon my career!
For the fashion gradutes of the Unifversity of Ulster their hard work will be reaching an exciting conclusion as they showcase their innovative designs at their fashion graduate show! The catwalk show will be taking place in less than two weeks in the edgy location of T13, Belfast’s Urban Sports Academy and one of Ireland’s most dynamic venues, situated in the Titanic Quarter.
The Ulster Graduate Fashion Show, which is being organised by University of Ulster students who are set to graduate this summer, will be displaying collections including knit, print, embroidery, pattern construction and more. The emerging young designers will demonstrate what exceptional creative talent they have, as they get ready to launch their careers.
Lorien Dullaghan, who is among the students organising the event, said it will be a great opportunity to celebrate the students’ impending graduation, as well as inspire others to get involved in design: “The fashion show is a great way to end the course with a bang. We also hope that by displaying our skills and showing others what we have learnt through studying at Belfast School of Art at the University of Ulster we will encourage other young people to get involved in this industry.”
With the valued support from Dunnes Stores and Invest Northern Ireland, plus many more sponsors the evening will start at 8pm with light refreshments from Red Bull and Luciby Lambrini, along with a backdrop of amazing Freestyle BMX action from the RampRage Extreme Sports Crew, setting a distinctive tone for the night.
Following this, designers and models will take to the stage with each designer displaying their own theme for their collections in a way that expresses their unique and individual style. The models will be perfectly styled by make-up maestro Paddy McGurgan and their hair gorgeously groomed by Andrew Mulvenna.
For all keen fashion designers, a dress rehearsal will be held at 3pm and secondary students from across the province are invited to view the collections and meet the designers afterwards. This has a special discounted price of £2.00 and is payable upon entrance.
Having attended last years show, I can honestly say I was totally blown away by the creative talents of our fashion graduates and I'm super excited to see what this year's students have produced!!
The fashion show will take place on Thursday 29th May at 8pm. Tickets are £12 and are available from www.getinvited.to/ulstergraduatefashionshow, for any other information visit @uufashiongrads and hashtag #lovinbelfastfashion.
