These days there is more pressure than ever for us ladies to look our best: from numerous skincare products to various treatments, there are a myriad of things that can be done to slow down the aging clock! Prevention is always better than cure, which is why it's vital to fully arm ourselves with all available tools at our disposal!
But what about treatments that go a step further than our standard weekly facials? As a newcomer to the world of cosmetic surgery I was pleased when I received an exclusive invite to attend the opening of River Medical Clinic here in Belfast on the Lisburn Road as I saw it as the perfect opportunity to learn more about cosmetic procedures, (both surgical and non surgical treatments) and what it all entails!

River Medical is a top Dublin based cosmetic surgery company which will be offering a wide range of both surgical and non surgical treatments here in Belfast. Their list of cosmetic surgery procedures available include the popular choices of breast implants, eyelid surgery and facelifts. However as someone who isn't considering going under the knife anytime soon I was most interested in hearing more about their non surgical options!
At the launch we were treated to glasses of bubbly and delicious canapés, but most important of all was the chance to meet and talk with the River Medical team! I was treated to a one on one tour around their new state of the art premises by the lovely Fiona and also got to see some of their non surgical procedures in action!

River Medical's demand for non surgical cosmetic procedures including skincare treatments such as Thermage, Flaxel and Hydrafacials in their existing clinics have gone up by 30% in the last year. These treatments have proven popular with celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey and Gwyneth Paltrow, and are a way for women and men to look after their skin and maintain a youthful look without going under the knife. So I was pleased to have the opportunity to see one of these treatments performed on the night!
"Thermage" is a treatment whereby unique radiofrequency technology safely heats the deep layers of the skin to stimulate the body's natural skin renewal process. This in turn helps to tighten existing collagen, while forming new collagen and elastin which will deliver tighter, smoother and more contoured skin without the need to under-go surgery! Firstly they started by applying the treatment to only half of the lady's face to create a "before and after" result, and I must say I did notice a marked improvement in the firmness of her face, especially along her jaw line and underneath her cheekbones! However the best part is that there is no recovery time for the treatment, and the effects will last approx. 10-12 months!
The clinic is confident its non cosmetic offerings will be a big hit here in the north as it offers a range of revolutionary treatments which are currently unavailable anywhere else in Northern Ireland!

As for what I wore to the event, well once again I opted for my favourite label, Karen Millen, choosing one of my favourite looks from their bandage body con range! I love the colour blocking of reds and pinks in their cowl neck top, skirt and matching mini box bag, perfect in the summer sunshine! I accessorised the look with my stunning Balenciaga leather cuff and one of my favourite pair of sandals from L.K. Bennett: a mix of ponyskin, suede and leather to create a show stopping look!

I have to say I had a lovely evening as I had the chance to catch up with friends as well as finding out more about River Medical and their procedures! Their staff are so friendly and knowledgable and I wish them the very best with their Belfast Clinic!
