Don't be late for a very important Date with Victoria Square!

Friday, July 31, 2015

One of my favourite books growing up was Alice's Adventures In Wonderland, I just loved the quirky surreal feel to the book, from the Mad Hatters Tea Party to croquet with the Queen of Hearts, it was a magical land that I always dreamt of "falling" into.......now it seems that my wish is coming true as Alice In Wonderland is now coming to my favourite shopping complex, Victoria Square Belfast!

Alice In Wonderland look-a-like, Freyja Miskelly (7) from Bangor with rabbit “Snowy”, is reminding everyone not to be late for a very important date at Victoria Square this Summer.

To mark the 150th anniversary of ‘Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland’, Victoria Square will magically transform into a wonderland of its own for the whole month of August making it the ultimate family destination this summer!!

From tomorrow, the full makeover will be unveiled, inviting everyone to travel on an interactive adventure through the centre; starting in the rabbit hole in the iconic dome with book swapping and storytelling, past the magic mirrors for photo opportunities, (woo hoo, Alice in Wonderland selfies!!!) then onto the tea time zone with cake decorating and hat design and through the rose garden to colour-in and play croquet!

There will also be a 6ft high maze for those curious minds like myself to explore with only one way in and one way out and giant board games such as connect four, chess and Lego! I don't know about you but all of this is really bringing out the inner child in me!

Visitors can also take part in a treasure hunt, weaving around the life-size props, to find clues and get help from the Alice In Wonderland characters.

I've already seen a few behind the scenes pics and it's all looking truly magical!! who says big kids can't enjoy these things too??

Michelle Jackson, Victoria Square Centre Manager, is thrilled to bring an event of this scale to Northern Ireland. “We have had so much fun planning this event and it is set to be truly enchanting. It will be a feast for the eyes and there will be so much to discover not only in the mall but the restaurants and in the shops too. It has been designed to bring out the child in everyone, so should appeal to children and adults alike.”

With the help of Autism NI, a zone has also been set aside on level two where children with disabilities can enjoy a quiet area with toys that have been specifically chosen to cater for their needs.

So why not pop down and check it all out for yourself! I for one can't wait to embrace my inner "Alice" and explore "Wonderland" for myself! (I may also indulge in a little retail therapy too while I'm there!) what can I say, I'm incorrigible, I was born to shop!

All information about the event, including the centre’s opening hours, can be found at www.victoriasquare.com.
