#UnifyisComing! Local fashion talent to take over Historic Titanic Drawing Offices this May!
Thursday, April 17, 2014Last year I had the pleasure of attending the Unify Fashion Showcase at the iconic Stormont, Parliament Buildings (read about it HERE) and it surely proved to be a night to remember! Since then I've been dying to hear the details of this years showcase, and to share with you all what we can expect from this collective of hugely talented designers!!!
For anyone who isn't familiar with Unify NI, they are a business established to facilitate local designers in advancing their careers as part of a collective, and I'm very pleased to reveal that they will be staging an unique two night fashion event to take place in one of Belfast’s most iconic buildings, the historic Titanic Drawing Offices!
The Unify Fashion Showcase, in association with Charles Hurst Specialist Cars, will include spring / summer catwalk shows and live mannequins dressed by the very best of Northern Irish designers, up-and-coming design students and unique local boutiques as well as supporting the A21 campaign, a global campaign to end human trafficking.

The high-end catwalk shows will take place against the stunning backdrop of the intricately-designed offices, with a retail display area offering the opportunity to purchase unique pieces from local designers and retailers in the adjoining space. (THE perfect time to indulge in some retail therapy!)
The show on Thursday 15th May will highlight the very best of local designers and boutiques, while the show on Friday 16th May will include collections from the Unify designers themselves and an outstanding student showcase from Belfast Metropolitan College.
Speaking at the launch of the event at Titanic Drawing Offices, local designer and manager of Unify NI, David Henderson said, ‘Unify incorporates designers from varied backgrounds including ready-to-wear and couture milliners, jewellers, ladies and menswear designers and coatume makers at different stages in their careers, to industry veterans and hot design students worth watching.’
Guests can look forward to seeing the latest bespoke creations from highly-acclaimed local designers including occasion wear from David Henderson, Shauna Fay, KAM by Kiera Ann Marie and A K A N I by Diana Mukushii as well as jewellery designers Alison McIlkenny of Rustic Dove Designs, Melanie Bond, Joanna Ritchie of Aura, and Stephanie Cheshire of B’Jewelled Bridal.
Outstanding milliner Marie Claire Ferguson of Marie Claire Millinery will also take centre stage, while Kelly Black Bridal promises to stop the show. Guests will also be treated to a roaming fashion show on arrival by costume designer MT Connolly who will be showcasing her stunning flamenco designs.
David added, ‘Our event has received overwhelming support this year from local companies in particular Charles Hurst Specialist Cars brands Aston Martin, Bentley, Maserati and Ferrari. These companies have displayed their commitment to fostering local creative and artistic talent through their support of our fashion showcase.’
Last year's show was a real highlight of mine and I'm so excited at the prospect of the Showcase taking place over two nights! Showcasing a wide spectrum of fashion that will appeal to local fashion admirers to collectors of bespoke designer fashions, the Unify Fashion Showcase really has something to offer every fashionista!
