Biddy Clyro, Kodalind and Ham Sandwich added to Stellar Arthur's Day Line Up!
Thursday, September 05, 2013
As some of my readers might remember I was lucky enough to travel down to Dublin to attend Guinness' press launch for this year's Arthur's Day, 2013! Well at the launch they suggested that there was more news to come, and this week they announced some exciting additions to their line upž,
GUINNESS® & CO have announced that Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro, Dublin chart toppers Kodaline and Meath indie rock outfit Ham Sandwich, have been added to the stellar line-up of Irish and international music acts; they will be performing in ticketed and surprise pubs across the island of Ireland, for this year's Arthur's Day, on the 26th September.
Tickets went on sale on Wednesday 4th September via: www.ticketmaster.ie/arthursday for five ticketed Arthur's Day music events, featuring announced international and Irish acts. As with every Arthur's Day the line-up of who will play where, will remain a secret until the night itself. Tickets are priced at £10, with proceeds going to the creative and cultural initiative, Arthur Guinness Projects.
The ticketed pub venues include Lavery's of Belfast, Dakota and Whelan's in Dublin, Nancy Blake's in Limerick and Rearden's in Cork. Music fans can also look forward to a choice of 500 free music events featuring the best of Ireland's musical talent, in local pubs across all 32 counties.
Kodaline commented, "Arthur's Day is really special. It's great to be part of something where over a thousand Irish musicians will perform as part of one huge music event on the same night all over the country, and all in local pubs. There are a lot of talented musicians out there that find it hard to be heard, so it's good to get a platform to showcase their music and get some new fans."
This year, Arthur's Day will support, promote and showcase the next generation of Ireland's passionate artists, sports fanatics, and food lovers; all of whom are creating and inspiring positive change in Ireland today. GUINNESS is creatively collaborating with over 20 local publicans and local Arthur Guinness Projects' applicants to transform their local pubs into creative hubs for Arthur's Day. Further details will be revealed closer to the day.
Also on Arthur's Day, the Guinness Storehouse at St. James's Gate Brewery will be transformed into a creative hub showcasing Ireland's talent and creativity. Curated by Irish award-winning creative team Block T visitors will be treated to impromptu performances, design illustrations and carnival sets, bringing to life the cultural contributions of GUINNESS throughout the years from 1759 right through to today. As well as the immersive cultural timeline, up to 500 lucky Golden Ticket holders will be invited to experience a daytime live music performance from a renowned Irish artist, as well as being treated to an innovative food event showcasing the best of Irish produce. A selection of the 2013 Arthur Guinness Projects' applicants and winners will also be showcased at the Storehouse in video and photographic displays.
Stephen O' Kelly, Marketing Director, Guinness, said, "Excitement is building ahead of Arthur's Day and we're thrilled to announce more great Irish and international acts who will take to the stage on September 26th. With over 1,000 acts performing in pubs across the country, Arthur's Day 2013 will be an extraordinary celebration of the best of Ireland's talent and creativity.
Ham Sandwich commented, "It's great to be part of the music line up for 26th September. The Arthur's Day team also told us about how some local pubs will be transformed into creative spaces showcasing local talent outside of music. It's cool to let other art forms have a platform to breathe outside of a gallery or studio and why not the local pub!"
Ireland will join the millions of people taking part in the Arthur's Day 2013 celebrations across Europe, Indonesia, Malaysia, The Caribbean and Australia.
